Driver Music CD Cover Artwork

Background:

Local band Driver needed a creative album CD cover that conveyed the innovative music on the CD inside. Driver represents themselves as "Deep esoteric groove, primal electronica, & drum 'n bass with fangs". With expansive musical compositions ranging from ambient grooves to lightning fast drum'n'bass, this artwork went through several rounds of revisions before settling on the appropriate represenation.

Results:

The final approved artwork (above) and 2nd place concepts (see below) were very well received with the band. After the band debated on the 2 concepts, the concept below was thrown out in the end as it seemed to represent that machines (computer or a DJ) was creating the music. The band was very proud of reproducing the sounds and tonality of what you might hear from a DJ - but only with live instruments. In the end, the top concept was said to better represent the 'fluid' nature of their compositions, while representing the explosiveness of the drum n bass breaks in the same song.
